Is Cadbury World Worth Visiting With Kids? Our Family Day Out
Cadbury World with kids had been on our family days-out list for a while, so when we were travelling down to Southampton, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally visit.
If there’s one way to make a family day out sound instantly appealing, it’s probably to mention chocolate!
We recently visited Cadbury World in Birmingham as part of our journey down to Southampton, and as we have Merlin Annual Passes, it seemed like the perfect place to stop and turn a long drive into another little family adventure.
I’d seen Cadbury World plenty of times online, but I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the actual experience or how much there would be for different ages.
So, is Cadbury World worth visiting with kids?
For us, yes — we’d definitely go again.
Our visit to Cadbury World
One of the things I liked about visiting Cadbury World with kids was that it wasn’t simply walking around looking at displays about chocolate.
There were lots of different things to see as we made our way around, with interactive elements and plenty to keep the children interested.
And, obviously, there was chocolate.
Charlie getting to try some was definitely a highlight! Watching him experience everything is one of my favourite parts of family days out now.
There were also interactive chocolate activities and lots of colourful displays, so there was always something new catching his attention.
Is Cadbury World With Kids Worth It?
This was something I particularly wanted to find out because Charlie is still little.
I sometimes wonder whether attractions aimed at families will actually have enough for a toddler to enjoy, especially when we’re visiting somewhere with Amelia too and trying to find days out that work for different ages.
We found plenty for Charlie to look at and experience, and he seemed fascinated by all the colours, movement and — unsurprisingly — the chocolate!
Younger children obviously won’t understand all of the information and history in the same way an older child or adult might, but that didn’t stop him enjoying being part of the experience.
More than just chocolate
Before visiting, I think I’d imagined Cadbury World being almost entirely about watching how chocolate is made.
The experience was much more varied than that.
There are interactive areas, themed sections and attractions to discover as you move through Cadbury World, which helped make it feel like a proper family attraction rather than simply a factory tour.
It also meant there was something different around each corner, which is always helpful when you’re exploring somewhere with children!
Visiting Cadbury World with a Merlin Annual Pass
One of the reasons we decided to visit was because we have Merlin Annual Passes.
We’ve been trying to make much more use of them for family days out, and being able to incorporate Cadbury World into a journey we were already making worked brilliantly for us.
Instead of spending the whole day driving straight down to Southampton, we got another family experience out of the journey.
If you have a Merlin Annual Pass too, it’s definitely worth checking the current entry and pre-booking arrangements before travelling, as these can change.

Would we visit Cadbury World again?
Yes.
For us, Cadbury World worked really well as a family day out and I’d happily return.
It had enough variety to keep everyone interested, Charlie enjoyed getting involved, and there was something quite lovely about having a day centred around one of Britain’s most famous chocolate brands.
And let’s face it — a family attraction involving chocolate was always going to have a fairly good chance with us!
