Things to Do on Liberty of the Seas: 15 Things to See & Do
If you’re looking for things to do on Liberty of the Seas, there is a surprising amount packed onto this Royal Caribbean ship.
We recently had the chance to spend the day onboard Liberty of the Seas in Southampton, and I genuinely don’t think I appreciated just how much there would be to see until we were actually walking around.
From family activities and kids’ spaces to pools, restaurants and adults-only areas, there’s something for pretty much everyone.
So, if you’re considering a Liberty of the Seas family cruise, here are some of the things you can expect to find onboard.
1. Explore the Royal Promenade
One of the first areas that really gives you that “wow, we’re on a cruise ship” feeling is the Royal Promenade.
It feels more like walking through a little indoor street than being in the middle of a ship, with places to eat, drink and shop.
It’s also somewhere you’re likely to pass through regularly during a cruise, so it quickly becomes one of the main hubs onboard.
2. Spend the Day by the Pool
Of course, you can’t have a family cruise without some pool time!
Liberty of the Seas has plenty of outdoor space for those sunny sea days, whether you want to get in the water or simply find somewhere to sit and enjoy being on holiday.
Seeing the pool deck definitely made me imagine what it would be like spending an actual sea day here.
3. Try the Waterslides
If you’re travelling with children — or adults who are basically big kids — the waterslides are going to be a big attraction.
They make the top deck feel much more like a resort than a traditional cruise ship.
4. Have a Go on the FlowRider
Yes, you can actually go surfing at sea.
Royal Caribbean’s FlowRider surf simulator is another of those activities that makes you realise just how much has been squeezed onto the ship.
I’m not entirely convinced you’d get me on it 😂, but I’d happily watch everyone else have a go!
5. Visit the Kids’ Areas
One of the things I was particularly interested in seeing was what Liberty of the Seas offered for families.
There are dedicated spaces and activities for younger guests, which is something I know I’d want to investigate properly before booking a family cruise.
Having somewhere children can enjoy themselves while parents potentially get a little downtime is a huge plus.
6. Head to the Arcade
Another one for the kids — although I suspect plenty of adults would end up joining in too!
There’s an arcade onboard with games to play when you fancy a break from the pool or want something to do indoors.
7. Find Some Adults-Only Time
Family holidays are lovely, but sometimes you want five minutes where nobody is asking you for a snack. 😂
Liberty of the Seas has spaces where adults can relax away from the busier family areas.
For parents, I think having that choice onboard is a big bonus.
8. Discover All the Places to Eat
Food is obviously a pretty important part of any holiday, and there are numerous dining options onboard.
Rather than eating in exactly the same place every day, you can choose between different restaurants and more casual options depending on what you fancy.

9. Grab a Drink and Watch the World Go By
There are also plenty of places to stop for a drink.
One of the things I liked about exploring the ship was seeing how many different areas there were. You could find somewhere lively or choose somewhere quieter depending on your mood.
10. Visit the Casino
This one obviously isn’t for the children, but yes — Liberty of the Seas even has its own casino.
It’s another example of how the ship caters for completely different types of traveller and gives adults things to do in the evening.
11. Catch Some Entertainment
You certainly don’t have to head straight to bed after dinner.
Entertainment is a big part of the Royal Caribbean experience, with shows and activities taking place onboard.
This is one of the things that appeals to me about cruising: you don’t have to go searching for something to do every evening because the entertainment comes with you.
12. Explore the Top Deck
Even if you aren’t planning to do every activity, make time to simply wander around the top deck.
There’s something quite surreal about looking around and remembering that everything you’re seeing is sitting on top of a ship.
And then, of course, there are those sea views. 🌊
13. Find Somewhere Quiet
With so much going on, I was also pleased to see that not every part of Liberty of the Seas feels busy.
There are places where you can sit, have a drink or simply watch the world go by.
For me, having that balance between activities and quieter moments makes a family holiday much more enjoyable.
14. Wander Around and Explore
This sounds ridiculously simple, but I’d genuinely allow time just to explore.
Liberty of the Seas is huge, and we kept discovering different spaces as we walked around.
That’s actually one of the reasons I filmed so much during our visit — there was always something else around the corner.
15. Enjoy Being at Sea
And finally, one of the best things to do might be nothing at all.
Find somewhere comfortable, look out at the sea and remember that you’re on holiday.
After exploring Liberty of the Seas, I could absolutely imagine sitting with a drink while the ship sails towards the next destination. 🚢
Is There Enough to Do on Liberty of the Seas With Kids?
From what we saw onboard, Liberty of the Seas has plenty for families to do.
There’s a good mixture of energetic activities, pools and children’s spaces alongside restaurants, entertainment and places where you can slow things down.
And that’s important to me because when you’re travelling as a family, everyone doesn’t necessarily want to do the same thing at the same time.
